Privacy Policy
We hold as little personal data as we can. This page says exactly what we collect, why we collect it, and what your rights are.
Who we are
Deep Dive Reports is a trading name of Yilong (Allen) Chen, a sole trader in New Zealand. For privacy questions, email privacy@deepdivereports.com.
What we collect
When you buy a report: your name, email address, country, organisation, the name of the licensed reader, and your VAT number if you are a business in the EU or UK. Payment is handled entirely by Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe, never to us. We see only that a payment succeeded, and the last four digits.
When you commission tailored research: the above, plus whatever information you choose to give us for the work itself, and our correspondence about it.
When you contact us: your email address and whatever you choose to tell us.
When you visit the site: basic, aggregated analytics – pages viewed, approximate location by country, device type, and how you arrived. This is collected by Cloudflare Web Analytics, which does not use cookies and does not fingerprint or track individuals across sites. We do not use it to identify you.
Why we collect it
- to deliver what you bought, and give you access to your download
- to carry out research you have commissioned
- to reply to your questions
- to tell you if we correct a report you bought
- to send you emails you asked for
- to meet our tax and record-keeping obligations under New Zealand law, and our VAT evidence obligations where we sell into the EU or UK
- to understand which reports people find useful, so we can write better ones
We do not sell your data. Ever. We do not share it for anyone else's marketing.
Who else handles your data

We do not yet send a newsletter. If we start, this page will name the provider before the first one goes out.
Some of these are based overseas, so your data may be stored outside New Zealand. We only use providers with recognised data protection standards.
Cookies
We use no advertising cookies and no analytics cookies. Our visitor statistics are cookieless.
Stripe sets cookies necessary for checkout and fraud prevention when you go to pay. That happens on Stripe's own pages, under Stripe's privacy policy.
If you choose to play an embedded video, it loads from youtube-nocookie.com at that moment and YouTube may then set cookies. Nothing is requested from YouTube unless you click play. That is why the videos on this site show a plain play button rather than a YouTube thumbnail.
How long we keep it
- Purchase and tax records: seven years, as New Zealand tax law requires
- EU VAT records: ten years, where the sale was into the EU
- Commissioned research files and correspondence: seven years
- Enquiries: two years
- Analytics: as retained by Cloudflare Web Analytics, in aggregate only
Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you may ask us to show you the personal information we hold about you, and to correct it if it is wrong. Email privacy@deepdivereports.com and we will respond within 20 working days.
If you are in the UK or EU, the GDPR also gives you the right to a copy of your data, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to complain to your data protection authority. We honour these rights for all customers regardless of where you live.
Note that we cannot delete purchase records we are legally required to keep for tax purposes.
Keeping it safe
The site runs over HTTPS. Access to customer data is limited to Yilong (Allen) Chen. We hold as little personal data as we can, which is the best protection there is. If a breach ever puts you at risk of serious harm, we will notify you and the Privacy Commissioner as the law requires.
Children
The site is for business users and not directed at anyone under 16.
Changes
We will update the date at the top if this policy changes, and tell subscribers if the change is significant.
Versions of this page
The version of these documents that governs your purchase is the one published at the moment you bought. We keep dated copies of every earlier version and will supply one on request. Email support@deepdivereports.com and tell us the date of your purchase.
